1885-S S$1 MS65 PCGS. In his book Silver Dollars
1885-S<S$1> MS65 PCGS. In his book Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States, Bowers writes that most Uncirculated 1885-S dollars are in grades MS60 through MS64, in which thousands exist, while less than 2,000 MS65 pieces are thought to be extant. The current example has bright silvery surfaces visited by whispers of milky-gray patina. The design elements exhibit better than average striking impressions, with most of the hair over Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers being well defined. The lustrous surfaces are seemingly well preserved, with no mentionable contact marks to report.
