1885 North West Canada Medal with Saskatchewan Clasp and original Ribbon. Issued to Sergeant A. Polson Winnipeg Light Infantry. The medal is accompanied by a letter outlining some history about Sergeant Angus Polson and the family history and ownership of this medal throughout its time. These medals were handed out for those who fought the North-West rebellion and those who served west of Port Arthur, Ontario. Issues were received by crew and volunteers of the steamer "Northcote" at the Battle of Batoche, Battle of Duck Lake, Fish Creek, Cut Knife Hill and French Man's Bute. Cree Indian Chiefs "Poundmaker" and Big Bear eventually surrendered and ended the rebellion. This is a great piece of Canadian history and as a Sergeant Issue this makes this medal a rare find!
