1885-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. A lovely double eagle, this piece is fully brilliant and highly lustrous with frosty yellow-gold surfaces. The '85-CC double eagle features a low mintage of just 9,450 coins, and it is a rare issue in any Mint State grade. It is considered one of the rarest double eagles struck at the Carson City Mint during the 1880s. Most pieces entered circulation at the time of issue, and even the Smithsonian Institution only has an example that grades XF45. Among Mint State pieces, nearly all survivors are in the MS60 to 62 range, including this coin. For example, PCGS has certified 25 Mint State examples of this date, but only one of those coins grades any better than MS62. Population: 9 in 61, 11 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
