<B>1885-CC $20 AU50 NGC.</B></I> Carson City Mint Superintendent James Crawford died on March 8, 1885. Rather than suspend operations, the mint struck only silver dollars and double eagles during the year, both in limited numbers. The 1885-CC double eagle is scarce in all grades from the minuscule mintage of 9,450 business strikes, and it is quite elusive in Mint State.
