<B>1885 25C PR65 PCGS.</B></I> The 2007 <I>Guide Book</B></I> indicates that 930 proof quarters were struck in 1885. PCGS and NGC have certified a fairly good number, totaling over 400 pieces, the majority of which are PR64 and below. On the Gem specimen in this lot, electric blue peripheral toning fades to lavender, and to pale orange on the obverse and deep pumpkin-orange on the reverse. Distinct contrast is visible between the eagle and the nearby fields. A solid strike results in crisp definition on the design elements.
