1885 1C PR65 Red PCGS. The 1885 is a scarcer issue from the 1880s as only 11.7 million pieces were struck--the lowest production of the decade. This is mostly likely from a conservation of planchet stockpiles forced on the Mint by its inability to locate a source for planchets at a fair price. This is a lovely Gem example. The fields are especially bright and show quite a pronounced semi-prooflike gleam. Sharply struck throughout, the surfaces are bright with the orange-red color displaying just a dab of light blue on the left side of the reverse. Population: 17 in 65, 11 finer (1/03).From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
