1884-O $1 MS67 PCGS. A fully superb Gem with blazing luster and a bolder strike than typically seen on the issue. The surfaces are generally brilliant and untoned, with nary a mark to be seen on either side. The New Orleans Mint produced only silver dollars in 1884, and as a result 9.7 million coins flowed from the presses of the southern facility that year. With their hands free of other denominations, one would think that the staff at the New Orleans Mint would have taken special care when striking this issue. On the contrary, finding a sharply struck '84-O on today's market is not a guarantee, and many coins are softly defined over the all-important central highpoints. Population: 53 in 67, 1 finer (12/07).
From The Motor City Collection.

Coin Engraver: George T.
