<B>1884 New York Gothams vs. Chicago White Stockings Scorecard.</B></I> The original Polo Grounds, positioned at the northern edge of New York City's Central Park, served as the setting for this battle between the titans of the 19th century, with early Hall of Famers Ewing, Ward, Connor, Welch, Kelly and Anson each noted among the combatants. This tremendously early and scarce program keeps the tally of a thirteen to nine victory for the visitors, notated in bold pencil. Text at top of interior advises, in part, "Keep your heads level. Try to bet on the team that's going to win. Come home sober, and when you want a suit of clothes, go to Hirshkind & Co." Terrific vintage color graphics appear on front and back cover of the simple four-page scorecard, which measures 6x7.5" when open. A degree of edge and spine wear is to be expected, but the scorecard remains solid and complete.
