1884 G$1 MS66 PCGS. A splendid specimen with lovel
1884 G$1 MS66 PCGS. A splendid specimen with lovely yellow-gold color and prooflike surfaces. Nearly perfect surfaces and amazing color make this one of the most visually appealing coins that could be imagined. The date was repunched sharply below the final position and at an angle up to the right, so that the digit 1 is almost 50% low, the first 8 about 25% low, and the second 8 possibly 10% low. Although Breen attributed the reverse die to Proofs, there is no doubt that it was also used for business strikes such as that offered here.
Ex: Bowers and Merena 1/01.
From The Richard J.
