1883-S $5 MS64 PCGS. A sharp strike and brilliant satin luster characterize this attractive yellow-gold piece with its faint pinkish highlights. Just 83,200 examples of this date were coined, and few have survived as fine as the present example. In fact, this piece is one of just three similar Choice Mint State examples with none finer (4/07). Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth consider this date to be much rarer than current price guides suggest: "The 1883-S half eagle is one of the most underrated dates of the Liberty Head half eagle series. The date is assigned a very modest price in most standard references."

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
