1883 S$1 Hawaii Dollar MS65 PCGS.
1883 S$1 Hawaii Dollar MS65 PCGS. One of the finest Kingdom of Hawaii Silver Dollars we can ever recall having handled, the last MS65 example sold in a Heritage Signature Sale being in our 1999 Central States Auction. Both obverse and reverse are draped in steel-blue and golden-violet toning that has very little effect on the underlying cartwheel luster. A few pinpoint marks on the portrait of Kalakaua are downplayed by the layers of toning. According to Breen, the net mintage for this issue is only 46,348 pieces. This is due to the recall of 453,622 pieces years after the wildly optimistic production of 500,000 coins was authorized and struck. A rare crown-sized issue in this Gem grade. Population: 3 in 65, 0 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
