<B>1883 G$1 MS67 PCGS.</B></I> One occasionally encounters a fantastically high-end gold dollar such as the present piece. The existence of such coins is due to numerous factors: the low mintages of the 1880s that presaged the series' end; astute, mintage-conscious numismatists who were not averse to hoarding; and the predictably high survival rates that resulted from the combination thereof. Stunning, deep reddish-orange fields show marvelous reflectivity and a bold strike. Careful perusal with a glass fails to reveal any singular distractions.
