Examples trickled out from this source over a number of years. Today, the '83-CC is common in Mint State, especially in MS60 to MS65 grades. Even Premium Gems are obtainable with a little searching and patience. MS67 coins become more elusive, as indicated by the population figures which point to fewer than 200 certified examples. The Superb Gem presented here displays lustrous surfaces bathed in waves of gold and reddish orange and cobalt-blue on the obverse, while the reverse is essentially untoned. The design features are well impressed, save for minor weakness in the hair curl over Liberty's ear. A small mark in the field near the chin is well concealed in the toning.
