1883-CC $20 MS63 PCGS.
1883-CC $20 MS63 PCGS. While one of the more available Carson City issues in lower grades, all CC Double Eagles are rare and worthwhile coins in strict Mint condition. This is a solid MS63 example, with original surfaces, a modicum of abrasions, and full luster, along with lovely pink and lemon-gold colors. Several small charcoal-colored spots reside near the reverse peripheries, but are only a slight distraction. Although the 1883-CC has a surprisingly high rate of survival (900 to 1,000+ extant) for a frontier era gold coin, with just 59,962 pieces produced, Mint State survivors number just 65-75 examples (per Winter and Halperin, 2001), and none of those examples has been graded higher than MS63, by either of the major services. This offering, therefore, would seem to represent a significant opportunity for the advanced collector of Carson City Mint gold. Population: 2 in 63, 0 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
