<B>1883-CC<$10> AU58 NGC.</B></I> Only 12,000 eagles were struck at Carson City in 1883, and perhaps only a few hundred pieces have survived in any grade. NGC and PCGS combined have certified just four pieces in Mint State, none above the MS61 level. Even advanced Carson City specialists gravitate toward a high grade circulated example, such as the present coin. This sharply struck and bright piece displays considerable luster, and marks are trivial aside from a couple of moderate marks beneath the beak. Census: 15 in 58, 3 finer (9/06).
