1883 5C Liberty Head Five Cents, Judd-1710, Pollock-1914, R.5, PR65 PCGS. The obverse is similar to that used on regular issue 1883 Liberty nickels, but the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA has been substituted for 13 stars around the periphery. The reverse is inscribed with 50 N./ 50C. centered within a wreath of corn and cotton. FIVE is above, CENTS is below. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. This is one of several patterns for this year using different alloys of nickel and/or copper showing their composition on the reverse within the wreath. This is a bright, deeply mirrored example that shows significant mint luster--perhaps enough to qualify for a Cameo designation. A splendid example of this popular and relatively plentiful transitional nickel pattern.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
