1883 $3 MS62 PCGS. The three dollar denomination is stocked with low mintage dates. But even within this challenging series, the production of the 1883 seems uncommonly stingy. Just 900 business strikes were coined, along with 89 separately collected proofs. This well struck representative is free from bagmarks, and the few wispy hairlines in the fields are consistent with the grade. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $10 from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag Bros. envelope included with "1883 Three Dollar Gold $10.00 Unc" inscribed. Population: 32 in 62, 40 finer (1/07).
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
