1883 25C Hawaii Quarter MS66 PCGS. Breen-8033. Repunched first 8. Walter Breen described this variety as a blundered date with the first 8 punched over an errant 3, although the first figure resembles a recut 8 rather than a 3. Silver coinage for the Kingdom of Hawaii was produced by the San Francisco Mint on behalf of the Hawaiian government in 1883, with dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars produced to the extent of 1 million dollars face value. Many of those coined were later redeemed and melted once the legal tender status of the coins ceased upon Hawaii becoming a U.S. territory. This piece is a splendid original example with faint lilac and gold toning over satiny surfaces. The design features on both sides are fully defined. Population: 69 in 66, 9 finer (3/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
