1883 25C Hawaii Quarter MS66 PCGS. Breen-8033. Repunched first 8. Designs for the Hawaiian silver coins were prepared by Charles Barber, with hubs and dies prepared at the Philadelphia Mint for eventual coinage in San Francisco. Since the value of these coins was the same as U.S. coins, legal specifications were identical to those of U.S. coins, and this meant that there was no need to prepare special planchets for a small production. Each of the Hawaiian coins had their distinctive denomination names included as part of the reverse design, including this quarter dollar that was known as the Hapaha. A lovely lilac-gold toned piece, this example has satiny luster on both sides with sharp design features. Population: 69 in 66, 9 finer (3/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
