<B>1883 1C PR66 Red and Brown PCGS.</B></I> Richard Snow (2006) says: "As the high-mintage date of the 1880s (6,609 proofs), 1883 holds the banner as being the common coin. However, survivability of the cents is quite low, as many buyers of the day were more interested in the nickel five cent coinage." The population figure below corroborates the paucity of the 1883 in this grade level and color designation. Low intensity multicolored toning bathes reflective surfaces that exhibit sharply struck motifs. Close inspection reveals no significant marks.
