(1883-1888) Dayton, Washington (Territory), Jacob Weinhard, Dayton Malt House, 'Good For a Drink or Cigar.' This token is unlisted in Rulau. A neat pictorial piece with a rendition of the Malting House on the obverse and a large numeral 5 on the reverse. Jacob Weinhard emigrated from Germany in 1880 and worked as a foreman at his uncle's brewery. He soon saw the potential of the Dayton area and established the Weinhard Brewery, and by 1904, his empire included the brewery, a malt house, the Weinhard Saloon and Lodge Hall, plus other interests. A very important historical piece of territorial Washington. Of note are several scratches on the obverse to the right of the building and some weakness on DAYTON.
