<B>1882 T$1 PR67 Cameo NGC.</B></I> David Bowers, writing about the availability of 1882 proof-only Trade dollars in his <I>Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States</B></I>, says: "Examples are readily available and are very popular due to the overall low mintage figure (1,097 pieces). Many are flatly struck. Walter H. Breen suggests that this may have been due to a deteriorating hub used to produce the die."<BR> Approximately 170 1882 proof Trade dollars have been given a Cameo classification by NGC and PCGS, the vast majority of these falling in the PR60 to PR65 range. The current PR67 Cameo is generally sharply impressed, and exhibits just minor weakness in portions of Liberty's hair and in the upper-most stars. Heavily frosted motifs stand out against highly reflective fields, and possess the slightest hint of gray-tan color under magnification.
