1882 T$1 PR66 PCGS. Glistening, pristine surfaces sparkle beneath delicate champagne-lilac iridescen
1882 T$1 PR66 PCGS. Glistening, pristine surfaces sparkle beneath delicate champagne-lilac iridescence that appears to deepen (albeit ever so slightly) toward the denticles. The outward appearance of this coin is truly spectacular, and it is one that should be seen to be fully appreciated. Both sides are also sound from a technical standpoint, every feature being free of bothersome handling marks. Although a little soft near the upper obverse border, the strike is noteworthy for an issue that is typically seen bluntly impressed. Breen (as quoted in Bowers, 1993) suggests that the poor striking quality of the 1882 Trade Dollar may have been caused by a deteriorating hub. A coin that we wholeheartedly recommend to specialists. From the Trane Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
