1882<T$1> PR64 Cameo PCGS. Struck from the die combination described in the Bowers Silver Dollar Encyclopedia as Proof Issue 1b, with the crossbar extension on the digit 4 fragmented and nearly missing altogether. This is an amazing Cameo Proof that should have received the Deep Cameo designation, in our opinion. The devices on both sides are fully frosty and lustrous with brilliant silvery-white color. The fields are similarly brilliant and deeply mirrored, and the rims on each side have attractive gold toning, as if the entire design were in a gilt picture frame. Only the presence of a few wispy hairlines keeps this from Gem quality. Every detail on both sides is sharply defined, except for a few feathers inside the eagle's leg, and a few of the arrow feathers, all which were polished off the die before this coin was struck.
From The Ken Arnold Collection.
