<B>1882-S $20 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> As is true with all of the S-mint double eagles from the 1880s, the 1882-S was struck in substantial numbers and can be found without too much difficulty in average Uncirculated grades. Mint State survivors are almost invariably very well struck and possess excellent luster characteristics. From the modern collector's perspective, problems arose with the way these coins were stored and transported. Heavy abrasions plague nearly all survivors to the extent that even a Select coin such as this is legitimately scarce. This example displays a vibrant, satiny appearance and is tinged in delicate orange patina.
