<B>1882-CC S$1 MS67 NGC.</B></I> The 1882-CC dollar is a voluminous date. David Bowers (2006) writes that: "The majority ... were not released at the time of issue but were held by the Treasury. Many decades later, over 600,000 were sold by the government ... to collectors. Today most of the original mintage survives in Unc., mostly out of numismatic hands." We present here a marvelous Superb Gem that is essentially untoned, and sharply struck, including excellent definition in the hair at Liberty's ear and on the eagle's breast feathers, areas that often are weak. Partially prooflike fields offer pleasing contrast with lightly frosted motifs, and aside form a few minor luster grazes, both sides are well preserved.
