1882-CC<S$1> MS67 NGC. Beginning in the 1930s, the Cash Room in the Treasury Building paid out 1882-CC Morgan dollars at face value to dealers and collectors. The general public also took advantage of this situation, particularly in the 1960s. When the Treasury Raid ended in 1964, the federal government still had 605,029 undistributed '82-CC dollars, or more than half of the original mintage of 1.1 million pieces. These coins were later sold by the General Services Administration. Despite its availability in lower Mint State grades, this issue is a significant rarity at the Superb Gem level of preservation. This is an uncommonly smooth example with bright, frosty-white surfaces. The strike is a little soft over the central highpoints, but the eye appeal is not diminished in the slightest.
