<B>1882 $3 MS65 Prooflike NGC.</B></I> Certain three dollar issues, particularly the 1878, are plentiful in Mint State relative to their cost. No one could say such a thing about the 1882, since only 1,500 business strikes were coined, and probably fewer than 200 pieces have survived in Mint State. Most of those coins grade between MS61 and MS63. Gems are rare, with or without reflective fields. This splendidly preserved example has frosty devices and flashy fields. The centers are pumpkin-gold, while the borders are a lighter yellow-gold. As usual for the 1882, the 2 in the date is widely repunched north. An exemplary Gem that would fit within the finest quality specialized collection.
