<B>1882 $3 MS62 NGC.</B></I> Most, although not all, of the late-date, low-mintage three dollar gold pieces appear to have been saved in considerable numbers at the time of their production. The 1882 is one such, for despite its nominal mintage of 1,500 business strikes, a bit more than 400 <I>certification events</B></I> (to borrow Bowers' term) have been seen at NGC and PCGS combined. This coin offers appealingly lustrous sunset-orange surfaces that appear high-end for the grade, but a couple of hair-thin scrapes on the reverse limit a finer grade.
