<B>1882 $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> Low production numbers led to well produced coins, many with prooflike fields. This example displays those qualities, along with light wear and scattered small marks. An uneven rim is noted between 6 and 7 o'clock on the obverse. A scarce, low mintage issue with only 4,000 pieces produced. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece from E.K. Washburn for $5 during the 1930s. An old-time envelope with the comment "1882 2 1/2 ex. f. E.K.
