1882<10C> MS66 PCGS. Fortin-103. After reduced mintages in 1879, 1880, and 1881, the Mint began to crank out large numbers of dimes once again in 1882 with 3.9 million pieces produced in this year. This Premium Gem has frosty silver-gray surfaces that exhibit radiant luster, and touches of light gold on the reverse. The design elements are sharply struck. A few minute marks are located in the lower reverse field. Die specialists should note that ONE is die doubled north, and a die defect is on the reverse at 5 o'clock, these attributes not mentioned in the Fortin reference. Population: 25 in 66, 16 finer (3/05).
From The Tim Cook Collection of Liberty Seated Dimes.
