1881 S$1 PR67 PCGS. Fully original and richly toned, both sides, however, are slightly different in outward appearance. The obverse exhibits antique-copper and cobalt shadings that are largely confined to the peripheral areas. The center is lighter with lilac-gray, orange, and salmon-pink shadings over much of Liberty's portrait. More uniform, the reverse displays charcoal-gray toning with an off center blush of lilac-gray color toward the left periphery. There is not a single bothersome hairline or contact mark, as befits the grade, and the strike is needle sharp throughout. A coin for the collector who appreciates originality as well as technical quality. Population: 10 in 67, there are just two finer (10/02).From the Trane Collection.
