<B>1881 S$1 MS66 NGC.</B></I> David Bowers (2005) writes of the 1881 dollar, with a generous mintage of 9,163,000 business strikes, that: "Sharply struck, lustrous coins with superb eye appeal are hard to find and mount a challenge for the serious collector." The current Premium Gem, therefore, provides Morgan dollar enthusiasts with an infrequent opportunity. Dazzling luster radiates from well preserved surfaces that are bathed in a mix of aqua-green, purple, golden-brown, and orange toning, and a well executed strike results in sharply defined motifs. A couple of light inoffensive marks in the right reverse field do not detract.
