<B>1881 25C PR68 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Briggs 2-B. Both 8s are recut within the loops, and there are a pair of short die scratches (as produced) from the top of Liberty's right (facing) knee into the drapery; diagnostic features of the proof dies of this issue. The magnificent coin offered in this lot is the finest Cameo proof specimen certified by either of the major grading services. It displays lovely red-russet color at the margins, which is heavier and all the more attractive on the reverse. Frosted design elements reveal a sharp strike, and offer a pronounced contrast with deeply mirrored fields. Close inspection shows no distracting marks, and just one tiny nick on Liberty's cheek as a potential pedigree identifier.
