<B>1880 T$1 PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Once production of the Morgan dollars began in Philadelphia, that facility coined trade dollars only in proof. From 1878 through 1883, and also 1884 and 1885, limited production of proof examples took place to supply collectors with coins for their collections. Of course, it would have been a simple matter to discontinue the trade dollar in 1878, but the profit motif kept the series alive for several more years.<BR> This impressive Premium Gem proof has brilliant silver surfaces with lustrous devices that seem to float across the deep mirrored fields. The coin is boldly struck with exceptional details.
