<B>1880 T$1 PR65 NGC.</B></I> The 1880 has the highest proof mintage (1,987 pieces) of any date of the Trade dollar denomination. David Bowers (2006) attributes this "... to a speculative investment flurry early in the year." The current Gem is well struck and brilliant. An inoffensive linear abrasion in the lower reverse field is the only mark worthy of mention.
