<B>1880 T$1 PR65 NGC.</B></I> This proof-only issue had the highest proof mintage of any date of the Trade dollar denomination (1,987 pieces). David Bowers, in his <I>Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States,</B></I> writes that most of these still exist, "...perhaps 1,300 to 1,700."<BR> Electric blue, pink, and dark-green patination adorns this lovingly preserved Gem. Most of the obverse stars are not fully brought up, but the strike is otherwise bold. There are no visible signs of contact. A delight for the specialist who appreciates vivid original toning.
