<B>1880-S S$1 MS68 NGC.</B></I> In Mint State grades, the 1880-S dollar, with a mintage of nearly 9 million pieces, is one of the most common of the early Morgan dollar issues, which is reflected in the tens of thousands of certified Mint State pieces. When perusing the certified population data, however, the precipitous drop-off of examples from MS67 to MS68 is eye-opening. This gorgeous MS68 piece is untoned and solidly struck.
