<B>1880-S $1 MS68 PCGS.</B></I> A quintessential Morgan dollar in top-flight condition, absolutely breathtaking and seemingly of unsurpassable quality--even though each service has certified a few pieces finer of this issue, one of the best-produced in the Morgan dollar series. The surfaces are largely silver-white, but infused with a ring of amber-gold and cobalt-blue at the immediate rim. Extensive examination with a loupe reveals surfaces that are nearly flawless, a stray tick on Liberty's chin the only exception. An interesting series of small, raised die lines on Liberty's cheek is evidence of die polishing down into the recessed details of the die, and inconsequential roller marks appear above the ear. Glorious cartwheel luster and a bold strike complete the package. PCGS has certified five coins finer--at least numerically (7/07).<BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> George T.
