<B>1880 S$1 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> Ex: Ray George. The 1879 and 1880 issues are considered "better" P-mint emissions from early in the Morgan dollar series. While both pieces are available for a price up to MS65 condition, north of that grade they are quite elusive. Both number in the triple-digit populations at PCGS in MS65, but in the double digits in MS66. PCGS has currently graded only 70 MS66 examples of the 1880, with none finer (11/06). This brilliant silver-white example offers radiant cartwheel luster, with a decent strike that separates most of the hair over the ear, and no singular impairments.
