<B>1880 G$1 MS68 NGC.</B></I> The 1880 gold dollar has a high survival rate. Of an original mintage of just 1,600 business strikes, NGC and PCGS have certified about 600 examples, the vast majority of which are in Mint State. The MS68 coin in this lot is among the more scarce survivors. Its virtually flawless brass-gold surfaces radiate fantastic luster, and the design elements are powerfully impressed. Tilting the piece just slightly beneath a light source reveals impressive field-motif contrast.
