1880-CC S$1 MS66 PCGS. Third Reverse. The rich, swirling mint frost that blankets both sides of this coin is a not uncommon feature for a Mint State survivor of this low mintage Morgan Dollar from the Carson City Mint. What sets the present Gem apart from many of its similarly dated counterparts in today's market is the noteworthy lack of distracting bagmarks. The obverse field is particularly smooth, and the only mentionable abrasion is a scrape in the reverse field above the eagle's head. The well struck features exhibit golden-orange peripheral toning with splashes of blue and lilac colors over and before Liberty's portrait. The reverse die was rusted at the time of striking, evidence of which is most discernible at the CC mintmark and around some of the Gothic letters in the motto IN GOD WE TRUST.
