Abolitionist Henry Ward Beecher Autograph Letter Signed
HENRY WARD BEECHER (1813-1887). Historic American Abolitionist Anti-Slavery Preacher and Congregationalist Minister and Educator. His sister was Harriet Beecher (Stowe), Author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
August 29, 1880-Dated, Autograph Letter Signed, “Henry Ward Beecher”, 1 page, measuring 4.25” x 6.75”, written on Brooklyn, N.Y. stationery but handwritten date-lined at Twin Mountain House N.H., Very Fine. Letter to an unidentified woman regretting that he can't give her information about one of his sermons. It reads, in full; "My dear Madam - I can give you no information upon the sermon of which you enquire. I do not remember it - nor do I know whether it was ever published; or, if it was, where it can be obtained. - I regret to disapoint you. - Yours Truly - (Signed) Henry Ward Beecher". Beecher was the brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
