<B>1880/79-CC S$1 Reverse of 1878 MS64 Prooflike PCGS.</B></I> VAM-4. A Top 100 Variety. Struck from a reverse die that was two years old, and paired with an obverse die from the previous year, the Carson City mint epitomized economy of resources with this issue. While most collectors are familiar with the scarcity of the Reverse of '78 on the 1880-CC, few have ever seen a Prooflike example. Only 28 pieces have been certified in MS64 by PCGS with seven finer (4/07). This is a brilliant coin that is fully struck. The devices are heavily frosted and show enough contrast against the deeply mirrored fields that we suggest this coin is a borderline DMPL.
