This phenomenal proof offers enormous appeal, with bright silver centers complementing the amber-gold and iridescent-blue rims on each side. Perusal under a loupe shows that extensive die lapping has effaced some of the gown lowpoints (highpoints in the die), creating some supershiny areas and contributing to the brilliance. This is an effect sometimes seen as well on midseries Mercury dimes. Undoubtedly among the finest known, technically interesting, aesthetically superb, and justly deserving NGC's coveted Star designation.
