<B>1880 $1 PR67 NGC.</B></I> The 1880 had an original mintage of 1,355 proofs, and survivors tend to be either mishandled and low grade or attractive and very well preserved. Few of the high grade 1880s can compare to this coin, though. From a technical standpoint there are no obvious flaws on either side. Also, the surfaces are richly and originally toned with deep orange-rose color in the center of the obverse and electric-blue around the margin, while the reverse is nearly brilliant in the center with golden-russet, purple-red and electric-blue rings of toning around the periphery. A beautiful and technically impressive early proof Morgan dollar. Census: 29 in 67, 11 finer (6/07). <BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> George T.
