<B>1880 $1 8/7 Overdate MS64 PCGS.</B></I> VAM-9. A Top 100 Variety. Remnants of a previous 7 are visible inside the lower loop of the second 8 on this example. Overdate varieties are known for every Mint in 1880. Apparently quite a few left over dies had been prepared in 1879 but never used. After the turn of the new year, these dies were redated, and then sent on to the different branch mints as necessary. This near-Gem example is a gorgeous piece with frosty silver luster.
