<B>1879 T$1 PR67 Cameo NGC.</B></I> This coin begins a run of proof Trade dollars in this auction through 1883, which of course is the last year that is fairly obtainable with a little searching and patience. 1879 marks the first year that only proof Trade dollars were produced with no business strikes, a mintage recorded as 1,541 pieces. This example offers untoned, pristine silvery surfaces with enormous appeal. The deeply mirrored fields contrast sharply against the thick, icy mint frost that coats the devices on each side. The strike is impeccable, and a couple of dotlike indentations, in the left obverse field near Liberty's waist, are the only sign of contact.
