1879 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS.
1879 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. In the 1993 book Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia, Bowers states of this issue: "Most specimens were saved, but with varying degrees of care. Examples are readily available, for a price, in the different grade levels from Proof-60 to Proof-65." The author says nothing about the availability of premium quality Gems. We can, however, state that the 1879 Trade Dollar is a challenging coin to locate at the PR66 level, especially with a Cameo designation. This is a truly lovely representative whose golden tinged features are richly frosted over the devices and deeply reflective in the fields. There is not a single ill-defined feature, nor are there any grade-limiting blemishes. For future identification purposes, a small lintmark (as struck) is noted in the reverse field above the eagle's left (facing) wing. Population: 4 in 66, 1 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
