<B>1879 T$1 PR64 PCGS.</B></I> The 1879 Trade dollar is a proof-only issue. David Bowers (1993) contends that: "Most specimens were saved, but with varying degrees of care." That many were likely impaired is evident from the PCGS/NGC population/census figures that show relatively large numbers through PR63. The near-Gem in this lot displays medium intensity cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-tan patination, and exquisitely struck design features.
